We are appealing to you the residents to please do your your bit in keeping our streets safe. We are urging you the residents as well as urging your visitors to our suburbs to please be aware of the speed limits on our roads. Over the last few years there has been an increase in the number of cars traveling in and around our suburbs, especially to and from Kenridge Primary and Fairmont High. As well as an increase in the amount of traffic, there has also been an increase in the number of people speeding along our roads.
There have been numerous instances where residents have taken to social media to indicate that drivers are not stopping at the stop signs. We are urging you to please take note of these stops signs and stop. Failing to stop leads to an increase in the risk of accidents on our roads as well as other potential incidents, such as knocking pedestrians crossing the road.
Speeding in the suburbs poses a very real threat of serious injury to:
• The children cycling and walking to school;
• Parents and domestic workers accompanying small children to the pre-primary school;
• Mother’s pushing prams;
• Pedestrians walking their dogs; and
• Our animal life – pet, birds, squirrels etc.
